Abstract : The objective of this research is to explore the opportunities and means of improving the performance of the Department of financial administration in King Abdul- Aziz University (KAAU) . This objective has been pursued through: field observation, interviews, and questionaires. Proposals for improvement have been reached through analyzing and processing data and observation findings in the light of concepts and bases of a set of approaches and technquies used in the contexts of production management and human resource development . Two of these approaches have been heavily laid upon : the Systems Approach and Just-in-time strategy (JIT) . Other than the concluding section, this paper includes two parts : the first introduces the conceptual bases of the proposed improvements, the second is concerned with the analysis of findings of the field study, as a basis for proposals and recommendations for improvement .
