Abstract : Trivalent Pr3+ chelates of the type Pr(PhCHOHCH2NH2)4 have been synthesised by the direct reaction of 2-amino-l-phenylethanol with Pr(NO3)3.5Hp. Spectral studies reveal the presence of a 1:4 (metal-ligand) stoichiometry. Various spectroscopic parameters have been evaluated from the UV. Vis. and near i.r. spectra.
